Things worth knowing
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
Usually not, if the surface is permeable or drains to a border or lawn inside your boundary. Lay more than five square metres of impermeable surfacing that runs onto the road and you will need permission. Worth a call to the council.
What about a dropped kerb?
If the driveway is new or you are widening the entrance, the kerb crossing needs council approval and an approved contractor. We point you at the right form and handle the rest of the job around it.
How long does a driveway take?
Most driveways are a week to two weeks: dig out and sub-base first, then edging and surface. Weather and cure times move it a little either way, and we tell you before they do.
Block paving or resin?
Block is repairable and copes well with tight turns; resin gives a seamless surface and drains well when laid permeable. Both stand or fall on the base underneath, which is where we put the work in.
